The Coming of Immigrants

         My name is Liset Cruz. I am a junior at Flowery Branch High School. My goals are to attend University of Georgia and major in Journalism and Artistic Photography. 

         During the school year, I mentored at The Gainesville Times. I went by weekly for two days. My mentor is Shannon Casas and she is the managing editor for the newspaper.

         At the beginning, I worked alongside each department. While focusing on broadcasting journalism, I worked with the website's video producer, Savannah King. During the second semester, I focused mainly on photography. I worked alongside the photographers for the paper and had several photographs published in the paper. 

        I learned that journalism is very independent when it comes to reporting. With the experience I have gained, I believe I will be more flexible in the workforce.
